What is more American than going to the local county fair. Apple Pie, maybe, but going to the Fair on a nice summer day is pretty all American to me. While Alyna was on the trek we went to the fair which turned out good because Alyna doesn't like the Fair.
For a picture perfect day at the fair follow this recipe. It took me eight years to come up with this one but it is perfect now, I think.
1. BUT THE WRIST BAND!!! Just do it, I am so serious it is the only way to go! You will spend less I tell you!
2. Go after lunch on a Wednesday. See the animals first and then ride the rides. The kids went on ride after ride after ride, no lines and never complained of being hungry.
3. Get a slushy lemonade and head for home mid-afternoon. TAKE A REST, watch Charlotte's Web.
4. Eat Dinner at home, elephant ears are a treat not a meal I tell you! Oh and take aunt Ginger with you so you can sneak away with your sweetheart for elephant ears ALONE! I told you this is the perfect recipe.
5. Go back to the Fair in the evening, for us that means 6 or 7 and plan on staying until the kids beg you to put them to bed.
6. Ride the Ferris Wheel last when the sun has set and all the rides are sparkling. It is magical up there and cold so take a jacket.
There you have it Jenn's recipe for fabulous unforgettable fun at the fair. Enjoy!
Note to self: Don't send your 3 year old on the Dizzy Dragon ride with her brothers who will not listen to her when she says "that's too fast, I don't feel good."
