Family Timeline

"...and mom and dad can hardly wait for school to start again," In the month of August I find myself breaking into song a lot, and this is the song that is usually on the tip of my tongue. I do love the fall for many reasons and one of them is back to school time. However, it is also a bitter sweet time, and I realize that the next six years are going to be so precious because this will be the only six years that all of my kids will live together under the same roof.
So I took Merrilee Browne Boyack's (author of Parenting Breakthough)advice and created a family timeline for our next six years. This helps me see the major events that will happen over the next six years and what I need to be teaching each child to prepare them for what lies ahead. We have a lot to look forward to, a lot to teach, a lot to learn, but mostly I feel like we have a lot to take in, to savor and to enjoy because unfortunatley "this too shall pass."

wow - when you look at it like that time really does seem short! I had to smile at Alyna's 12th grade year (I also had a sibling in Kindergarten when I was a senior).

Wish I had done something like that- time does fly.

It was a little weird to see--ordained a deacon next to Caleb's name. Is it really that close??? YIKES!

Wow, that time will go so fast! Enjoy the little ones while they're still little!

Wow...when you put it all down on paper it looks like SUCH a short period of time! A good reminder to 'live in the moment' and enjoy our kidlets while we can.

Those years are going to just fly by! Just think how many afternoons we can sit around playing dice when all the kids are in school ;)
