My word for 2011 was SHINE. It has been a wonderful reminder to let my light (as small and insignificant as it may be) shine. It has compelled me to look for the light that others shine. I have been surprised at how often the word shine is used in the scriptures and hymns. I was pleased to discover a sweet little necklace in my mom's jewelry box shaped like a star with the word shine engraved on it. It has been there forever I am sure, but this year I felt her near me as I wore it. A tender mercy, a reminder that God is good and full of grace. And that He wants me to shine for Him each day. I was feeling a little sad to see the year with shine go...until I discovered my new word...
Discover.
It just seems to fit.

I've seen you wear that necklace all year, but didn't know if came from your mom! What a sweet, special tender mercy. :)
