Today, Sunday, January 13, 2013...

Outside my window the frost is thick and white and crisp!  It's cold...27 degrees and gray.  Earlier, Lucy and Lola (the cats) were playing with a mouse, not sure if they caught it or found it frozen.

I am thinking about summer; vacations and warmth and sunshine!

From the kitchen the smell of bacon and waffles lingers, as does the commotion of the kids doing the dishes.  Slowly both are fading.

I am wearing my pajamas. Cozy red flannels that I got two Christmas' ago, but love like the day I got them, more probably.

I am creating an agenda for our cub scout committee meeting this evening.

I am going to get ready for church. I do love the slow mornings of 1:00 church.

I am reading The Zookeepers Wife.  I am only a few chapters in.  Time for reading seems especially limited these days.

I am happy that Alyna is safe and sound.  On her way home from the varsity boys basketball game Friday night she hit a patch of black ice and went off the road.  Happily all is well!

I am hearing the little girls holler from the bathtub that they are ready for me to wash them. Calvin singing while he gets dressed, the water running in my bathroom, Caleb must be int he shower and the hairdryer drying Alyna's hair.

Around the house it's peaceful and warm.

One of my favorite things is my family. Right here, right now, safe and sound, healthy and whole and happy.

This week I will lead my first PTO meeting...wish me luck!

I am learning about happiness from Lorenzo Snow;

     "We have got to obtain knowledge before we obtain permanent happiness; we have got to be wide awake in the things of God."

     "Every principle that is revealed from the heavens is for our benefit, for our life, for our salvation and for our happiness."

*Oh my goodness - that is so scary about Alyna! Glad she is okay.
*Good luck with your PTO meeting! You are a brave girl! But I know you will rock it. :)
*I have this perfect mental picture of you in your house, in your morning pajamas, at your laptop, with all the sounds happening around you. Make me happy. :)
