Belle, hold really still.

This afternoon I was messing around with my camera. It is relatively new and I am still trying to figure it out. I was frustrated with my old camera and order a Canon SLR in a moment of "can't pass up a good deal" weakness. It came and I had buyers remorse. HOLY COW did I really just plunk down however much $$$ on a camera right before Christmas. Long story short, I returned the SLR and opted for another point and shoot. I am still having the same dilemmas. SO now I figure it is operator error/ inexperience. I need some tutoring and to just get out there and figure it out. Oh I was trying to make the long story short...
Belle was being my model today. Cute as a button, but a very wiggly model I must say. I was trying to get up close so I asked her if she would please try and hold really still. Her reply, "Yes momma, like this" and she grabbed her eyelids to hold them "nice and still". Oh my goodness it was charming and silly and I couldn't help but LAUGH!
So friends, how do you get those nice crisp photos of wiggly little girls. Help!

That is my question too! Sometimes putting the flash on helps me, but I don't know if that is always the best solution. If you figure it out let me know.

How funny! Sorry, I can't be of any help with your photography woes:(

I loved all the pictures of your kids after school. The black and white made it look like back in the day when everyone lived on farms:)

that IS a challenge! My solution is usually to take LOTS of pictures and hopefully a couple in there turn out just right.

My crutch was using the sports mode. Although, I would never claim that I take good photos :) Good luck!!

Oh sweet Jenn, I hear your woes. Been there myself, in fact AM there myself now that I don't have my dSLR anymore. I have been thinking about you a lot and we still need to get together for that little camera session you requested. I actually plan to do a post all about this very subject, and to offer whatever advice I can :) I'll let you know when it's done!

I don't know what you mean - you take great pictures! I mean really - the after school ones - adorable - the snow ones - adorable - and Belle - what and absolutely beautiful model!

I agree with Candy...you DO take great pics! But I wish you luck as you learn about your new camera. Learn ALL you can and then when I get a new one...I can pick your brain ;)

Point and shoot is fabulous for what you need. The thing that I find most important is shutter speed. The faster the better. I bought the one I have because of that one feature. It has some other great things but the Shutter speed makes a HUGE!!!! difference.
