My Calvin is a funny, funny little boy! I don't think he has a clue about April Fool's Day, but I could be wrong because he sure pulled a fast one on me today.
The little girls and I picked him up after school and headed to lunch at a friends. After lunch and playing they were tuckered out and ready to go home. I was in the middle of putting on Josie's shoes and finishing up our conversation so I sent Belle & Calvin out to the car while I finished up. A couple of minutes later I came out and they were both buckled and ready to go. A little peculiar I thought but in a good way. I got in and looked at the clock, oh my goodness could it really be 1:53? Had we really been there for 3 almost 3 and a half hours. Calvin and Belle both heard me and piped up that school was almost out so we should go get Caleb.
I thought that wouldn't be too bad if we pulled him out 15 minutes early, so we stopped to pick him up. It wasn't until I was signing Caleb out that I realized it was actually 1:00, an hour and fifteen minutes before school would be out. I looked over at Calvin who was wearing a guilty little grin and said "huh, look at that 1 o'clock." He didn't say anything, but that would have been the opportune time for an enthusiastic "APRIL FOOLS!!!"

When we got home, in a sugar sweet voice, Calvin apologized for messing with my clock, then he and Caleb dashed off to play the Wii. I don't think they knew and yet it appeared to be a well laid plan. This story ends with an interesting twist. I just got a call from the school that due to an unexpected field trip delay, the buses will be a half an hour late. Funny how things work out.

What a fun trick they played on you. It made me smile. I got the same phone call, but the buses ended up not being delayed at all. My kids were all home right on time.
Wow--you better watch out for him!
Love that picture- sweet! clever trick =)
We were clue less here yesterday- no tricks at all. That's why it's fun to have kids around.
Happy Day
That's so funny! I'm sure Caleb didn't mind that Calvin messed with the clock one little bit:)
How funny. I wish I had had a brother growing up that would have gotten me out of school early. Of course, we didn't have a wii, it would have been to play the Commodore 64:)
That is really funny! I think it is cool that your boys are so close in age and are best little buddies! They ALWAYS have someone to play with. What a blessing for them AND for you :)
That's so cute and clever! It's good that you have this blog to write these things down so that you can remember them when they're all grown up.
Pretty clever! I got a laugh out of that.
i just love calvin! i always wonder what's going on in that clever, curious noggin! i close my eyes and imagine his cute face! this picture captured those 'thousand words' xo
