This really was Alyna's experience so I'll have her share her chicken story with you...
"I was sitting reading emails when I decided to go and get my ear buds. I walked upstairs, got my ear buds and when I came downstairs I saw something really big so I looked out the window and it was three HUGE dogs! I went and told my mom and when I returned I saw that two of the dogs had gotten two of our chickens. The owner was rushing to get her dogs so I told my mom to come outside. When I walked outside I saw the two dogs ripping the chickens to shreds! There were guts and blood squirting EVERYWHERE it was nasty! The dogs then took the chickens into the forest beside our house. Throughout all of this our helpless cat was sitting on our front porch scared out of his mind. I will never be able to eat chicken again!! It was soooo GROSS!! I am scarred for life! I don't think I will be able to see a chicken or a dog again for a long while!!"
I came into the excitement just as the one dog was carrying his dinner into the woods and the owner had gotten control of the other dogs. There were two clusters of feathers so we assume that two had been eaten, but in fact it was just one. These are not small dogs mind you. My kids would have freaked out if they had been outside and these dogs had come at them. I am not so bothered by the chicken being eaten, my concern is these big dogs being walked without leashes. Anyway it made for an interesting afternoon, and so now there are two. Farewell Henwynn.

If I were Alyna I think that would have totally freaked me out. I like to just picture my chicken in nice neat packages from the store. Glad the little kids weren't outside to face those loose dogs!
I am happy it was just one! Having that picture in your head is so gross! Thanks for fixing my grammatic erorrs...
So did the dog owner offer to replace your chicken or anything? That would have made me so angry - I hate wandering dogs. So true . . . so gross!
See, nothing good ever comes from having chickens! I'm with Shannon, how did the owner react? Did they offer to pay/replace the chickens. Did you tell them how that was a beloved family pet and no amount of compensation can ever replace it... but that $100,000 might lift your sadness a little bit???
I also struggle with the before church family pictures!
Sheila's pet comment cracks me up! I do think you should update us on the owners response. I would think the dogs are a little too blood thirsty!
Eeewwww! That is REALLY GROSS. My Dad says that once a dog tastes blood he/she is ruined and should be put down because he/she will kill again and again and again. So keep a good eye on those chickens. I hope there aren't any more gross out moments around your place.
