What is your job? I am a mother
Where do you work? I work anywhere my kids are.
How long have you done this job? I became a mother on Tuesday, February 13, 1996 at 10:33 pm. Almost 14 years ago.
How did you get started? Hmmm….
How many hours do you work? Days? My day typically starts at 6:00 am and ends at 8:00pm; however I am always on call 24 hours 7 days a week. Very rarely do I get a day off.
Family situation? Age? I am married with 5 children. I am 33 years old.
Interview Questions
What did you want to do as a kid? I wanted to be a flight attendant. I grew up on a farm in the middle of now where. While I was out helping my dad, I would watched the jet planes fly overhead and wonder about the interesting people on those planes traveling to mysterious faraway places.
What made you want to do this job? I suppose I have always wanted to be a mother. It is the most eternally rewarding job.
What training/education went in to your job? Motherhood is something you learn as you go, that said, I have learned a lot from other mothers; grandmother’s, my mother, my mom*in*law, my aunts, sisters and friends.
What is your role at your job? I am primarily responsible for the nurture of my children.
What is your uniform? That depends on the day and the occasion.
What are the benefits of your job? The benefits of my job are countless. I am there when my kids come and I am there when my kids go and I get to enjoy all that happens in between. Nothing is sweeter than loves from my kids.
What are the bad/hard things about your job? The bad thing about my job is that you have to learn it as you go, which often results in long days and sleepless nights.
How has your job affected your life? Oh my goodness, its effects are literally infinite. I am who I am because I am a mother. And some day my kids will grow up and move away and yet I will always, always be their mother.
What keeps you motivated to keep at this job? The good days cancel out the bad days. The hope is there are more good days than bad.
How do your family members react to your job? I would say that they are grateful that they are my job.
How do your friends react to your job? Many of my friends are also mothers.
Describe a regular day at your job.
6:00am – Get the kids up and off to school.
7:00am – Exercise, mothers need to be strong.
8:00am – Take care of the little ones at home, be available for the kids at school, maintain the house, run the errands, do the shopping, cook the meals, keep track of the finances and do it happily.
8:00pm tuck them into their beds and relax a bit before a goodnights sleep.
Do you take pride in what you do? Absolutely!
Does your job stress you out? Of course.
What super power would help you with your job? Super speed would help me out. Less time doing chores and more time playing would be nice.
Do you think you are making a difference? I do.
If you could change your job to anything would you? No way. I love being a mother!

Sweet post- Funny thing- I had the same dream about being a flight attendant--- I too watched many a plane fly over my home in the lonely town of Indianola UT.
...and it's the toughest job out there!! But the best one!
I like this post! I really felt the part about them growing up and moving away - but still being their mother.
