(You will see a theme here: I like plants and chocolate, equally a lot)

Problem: LOTS of space to garden. Lots of deer who will eat whatever we garden.

See... If you look close you will count FIVE deer. Ha ha, they can't get at it because it is way too high. This year I am trying a little something different, gardening on the deck. I planted 14 square feet and so far we are off to a great start. Tomatoes, bush beans, sugar snap peas, carrots, cucumbers, peppers, zucchini, radishes and a few herbs. I am so excited!

I have decided that for me, getting out and planting something takes the edge off of these crazy NW spring days when you want and expect sunshine, but no. Only rain. and rain and a little more rain. I am also trying to only plant perennials. I do love to dig in the dirt though. It's simple, straightforward and serene. Makes me happy. Even weeding in some crazy disturbing way makes me happy or something that may be mistaken for happiness.

Yet another Tah Dah... Mark is one year older and wiser too! I love you, babe. You make me happy. So happy. ( Aren't those the cutest candles..Walmart...who would have thought.)
I am sure Mark noticed how "cute" his birthday cake candles were!?

I was making dinner the other night and I was torn between which of these two taste treats I love more...

bacon?

Or brownies?
Which is
YOUR weakness?

One last Tah Dah...

Yesterday there we only 14 more days of school left.
Tah Dah!!!
It's got me thinking about summer projects, trips, crafts, outings, boredom busters, the pool, free lunch... my wheels are turning. I need to make a list! :0)

Your patio is looking great! I finally made it outside today to inspect my garden and flower beds, prune a few plants, pull a few weeds . . . all of which gives me that same happy, peaceful, fresh feeling. I love the sight of a weed-free flower bed!
Bacon or brownies . . . that is tough. But if it is making-dinner-time I think I'd go for the bacon!
Jenn, I love your porch/deck. Good thinking to put your garden up there....and Holy Cow you do have lots of deer, I thought I had it bad.
Thanks for sharing.
Planting and weeding...so not my thing. I am a fair weather gardener. I refuse to go outside when it's rainy. We have our little garden, but Brian just told me last night that if I want to do some containers on the deck I could. Yeah! It looks fabulous. And while I love Bacon, brownies trump it anyday!
I feel your pain with the deer problem. Unfortunately we have to deal with them too. Glad you were able to find a solution that will work for you. I'm not a huge bacon fan, so I'd pick brownies over bacon.
Your patio and backyard look beautiful-and so peaceful!
I agree-I actually really like to weed and plant and dig in the dirt.
And growing plants you can eat is so fulfilling! I hope you get a great harvest!
Brownies. Definitely.
