I love a party!

I love a party for a lot of different reasons. I love to be with friends, I enjoy entertaining and it motivates us to get a few projects done. The kids and I worked on pulling thistle in the back so Mark could till it up again and move some dirt around for a more defined look of organized chaos. They are such good little workers.

Mark and Alyna poured a concrete pad in the back for the foundation of the woodshed. They were quite a team. They both slept well after this project.

The little kids and I thought we ought to be helpful while dad and Alyna were working so hard so Belle and I cleaned out the chicken coop and the boys took care of Josie.

It really is just a drop in a very large bucket, but we got some things done and other things at least started. The day of the party arrived and everything was set to go. Ginger came to pick up the kids about noon and I relaxed for a few hours before I got a call that was bound to happen sometime. The kids wanted to "buy a free kitten" at Walmart. We gave in, with the understanding that this cat will never be allowed inside because this farm needs a mouser. Ginger and the kids brought "Whiskers / Whisky / kitty kitty" home just before the party started then headed to her house for a sleep over.
Evening comes, the grill is fired up and 22 dear sisters from our ward arrive for what I hope will become our annual Relief Society woman's retreat. We ate well, played greed, sat by the fire on the deck, made cards, sewed quilt squares, talked, laughed, were inspired by candy's devotionals, sang karaoke, slept in, went for a walk and bonded as sisters. It went just as I had hoped it would.
After brunch Saturday morning, the retreat ended and I went in to town to get the kids. An hour or so after we got home an unexpected guest arrived. I think he heard there was a party and didn't want to miss out! Knowing that it had been a busy week getting ready for the retreat and dealing with this unexpected guest, Mark brought flowers. "99% because he loves and missed me and 1% because he was going to have to leave again in the morning." What a great guy, being sweet to me like that.

The party was perfect! Thanks for all the hard work and time you put into it!

I'm laughing at the goat on the porch...I would have been a lot, not a little, freaked out:)

And last, but not least, I'm soooo glad I didn't happen to take my kids to WalMart that day. I would have been drowned with pleas about getting a free kitty!

The party was fantastic, your flowers are gorgeous, and I got to sneak in and hold that sweet kitty while you guys were on your walk. I love kittens. Cats are another story. I hope she gets nice and fat on icky rodents (and not chicken).

Jenn, the retreat was amazing! Exactly what I needed. Thank you for being inspired to put it together and then following through with such great efforts. I would LOVE for it to become an annual event. It will be something I will look forward to each year :)

PS...the flowers are gorgeous. What a sweet hubby!

The retreat was lots of fun. Thanks for hosting it. I imagine it was quite a surprise to return home to a goat on your front porch.

I was in your area a few days before the retreat- Shannon mentioned she was going.
Glad things turned out wonderful.
The goat at the front door, what a hoot. I too, sometimes find interesting things waiting for me just outside my door- oh the joy of living in the country. :}

Oh, I love kittens! It's too bad they have to grow up. And the goat on the porch...hm. And I always like having friends over because it motivates me to clean my house a little more; it feels so good!

*I also love a party and the excuse/motivation it gives you to finish projects.
*I just love the photo of your "visitor" -- seems to me like something you would see in a comedy movie.
*And how thoughtful of Mark to bring you flowers during your crazy weekend.
*and the weekend did turn out wonderful -- thanks for being such a welcoming hostess!
