I hope that I am not the only that wears out the phrase "Just a minute". My kids would tell you that this is typically the response they get. Yesterday, Josie was down for a nap & Belle had fallen asleep on the couch so Calvin was bored.
I had a hundred other things on my to do list, but really an opportunity to have one on one time with any of my kids happens so rarely that I thought I had better take advantage of it. So Calvin and I spent the next hour in the basement jumping on the outdoor furniture cushions. We used them for gym mats and did somersaults, we spread them all around and played Lilly pad tag, we set them up like hopscotch and we had a grand time. So much fun in fact that Calvin chose to show the family our games for FHE. It was a moment that I will treasure.
He is such a sweet little boy. I love him dearly and realize that I need to make more of an effort to take the time to make these memories, not just with Calvin, but with each of the kids individually.
So the irony is I have said "Just a minute" twice while trying to get my thoughts down. Oh my goodness I am definitely a work in progress.

How fun! My mornings with Rowan are one of the things I love best about him being in afternoon kindergarten.And if you get tired of "Just a minute" you could try "hold on a second" that's my fav.
Sounds like so much fun! I love that you just said "just a minute" while you were typing this:) And no, you're not the only one to wear that phrase out!
holy cow, that phrase is a part of my daily, no, hourly vocabulary! Your game with Calvin sounds so cute!
I just say "hold your water" - Don't know why only that my grandmother used to say that to me all the time - you are such a fun mom! You are doing an awesome job of showing them how to have fun and that you are fun!
Thanks for reminding me how precious one on one time can be. I need to do more playing and less putting it off till later with my kids too.
That was an excellent reminder--can you tell us again in a few years when I've got kids I'm saying "just a minute to"? Because I know I will. But that time to play is so precious.
I wish I could take back all the "Just a Minutes"
You are a wish Mother :}
Happy Day
Good grief I meant to say "wise" Mother- Sorry too early in the Morning-:}
I say "hold your horses" and now Wyatt will say "ok...I am holding them" and when I look at him he is pretending to hold the reins (sp?) of a horse.
I agree completely. I don't want to wake up and have lots of regrets where I made other things my priority!
Sweet post, Jenn :)
One of my favorite quotes is "being a mommy means never having a minute but always making a moment". I'm thinking of puting that on my wall somewhere!
This is inspiring, Jenn. Isn't it funny how as adults we have to remember to play and make time for it, and as kids we fought tooth and nail for our playtime?
