2009... word to live by

Laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh!

In his last General Conference address "Come What May and Love It" Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles taught "a few things that have helped me through times of testing and trial." He first counseled that we should learn to laugh. As soon as I heard this counsel I knew that this would be my word for 2009. There you have it neatly packaged into one delightfully cheerful word, my new years resolution, "The next time you’re tempted to groan,"{or use colorful language, or raise your voice, or cry, or say something that is better left unsaid, or get frustrated, or feel guilty, or ...} "you might try to laugh instead. It will extend your life and make the lives of all those around you more enjoyable."

Only January 5 and I already get to practice. Our kids have been out of school for 3 weeks. Two weeks for Christmas vacation and 1 week for snow days. Two weeks, no big deal. Three, now that is a bit long I tell you. So you can imagine how excited we all are, not just me, but the kids too, to go back to school. Here is the funny part, after church today it starts SNOWING, really snowing, dumping snow! Could it be that tomorrow will be another snow day??? My first response was to groan, and then I remember that instead I WILL laugh! Come what may, I am gonna love it!

What a great attitude! That's one I'd really have to work on, especially in the face of more snow!

Sounds like about all you can do when it snows there! I think we are now enjoying that storm here.

I love that conference talk! I'll have to remember that too or to at least smile.
